Driver weaving through traffic in Küçükçekmece causes accident: 2 injured

A tragic traffic accident that occurred on the D-100 highway in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district has once again demonstrated how dangerous the consequences of neglecting safe driving rules can be. Around 02:00 at night, a car driver driving on the highway in the Ankara direction near Beşyol Mahallesi tried to weave through traffic despite the heavy traffic. It is stated that the driver lost control of the vehicle due to speed and uncontrolled maneuvering, and this carelessness caused the driver to hit two different vehicles on the road first. The vehicle, losing its balance with the impact of the collision, was later able to stop by crashing into the barriers on the road, and material damage occurred at the scene.

It was learned that a large number of teams were dispatched to the area to make the necessary interventions at the time of the accident and immediately after. Upon notification, police, fire and medical teams reached the scene and tried to bring the situation under control. Police teams completely closed the D-100 highway to traffic from both sides in order to investigate the section where the accident occurred and to ensure safety. During this time, it was determined that there were two people trapped or affected inside the car that had crashed while weaving through traffic. The injured persons were extracted from the vehicle as a result of the intense efforts of the fire crews and handed over to the medical teams, and were transported to nearby hospitals in accordance with emergency procedures.

After the incident, cleaning and towing works were initiated to restore safe travel on the highway. The damaged vehicles involved in the accident were removed from their locations with the help of tow trucks, and vehicle parts accumulating on the road and spilled oil were cleaned from the environment by cleaning teams. After the completion of these works, the road, which had been closed to traffic for a long time, was reopened to vehicle traffic in a controlled manner. Authorities announced that they have launched a detailed investigation and inquiry into the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident and to determine whether there was any violation of the rules.

Traffic accidents, especially when seen at night and on main arteries, carry serious risks that can result not only in material damage but also in loss of life. Weaving through traffic is an action that threatens the safety of other drivers in traffic and is prohibited by law. As in this incident, a driver making a sudden and uncontrolled decision has caused more than one vehicle to be damaged and people to face the risk of losing their lives.
