Leskovac Library Organizes "Kitapla Dünyaya" Photography Competition

The Public Library „Radoje Domanović" in the Leskovac city of Sırbistan is organizing its traditional summer photography competition again this year to support the culture of reading. This creative event, called "Kitapla Dünyaya" (Sa knjigom u svet), is an important cultural activity designed to promote the love of books and reading habits. The library aims for readers of all ages to capture the magic of reading through their lenses and share these moments with the community. The project was launched for the first time in 2021 and received great interest in a short time. The competition, which will be held for the sixth time this summer period, aims to bring book lovers together again as in previous years.

The main thing expected from the participants is to share an original photograph of that moment taken while reading a book. Competitors can immortalize their reading moments while traveling, in a peaceful corner of a park, while vacationing on the beach, in the comfort of their own homes, or in completely unexpected creative spaces. This flexibility allows the photographs to be highly diverse and personalized. The library asks participants to visually narrate to which different realms the books they read throughout the year took them. It is clear that the goal is not just to take a photograph, but also to emphasize the transformative and exploratory power of reading in human life.

There are certain rules and technical conditions that candidates wishing to participate in the competition must comply with. Photographs must be submitted only in digital format to be included in the evaluation process. Each participant can apply with a maximum of three photographs, giving them the chance to choose their best moments. The submitted images must be completely original and belong to the creator; works downloaded from the internet or previously sent to other competitions will definitely not be accepted. In addition, it has been clearly emphasized that images produced with artificial intelligence tools, a controversial topic of recent years, will not be evaluated within the scope of the competition.

For the application process to proceed smoothly, participants must also share some contact and identity information. The reference file to be attached with the photographs must include the author's name, surname, and contact information in full. This contact information includes a phone number, a full residential address, and a valid email account. In addition to these, it is mandatory to specify a unique, creative title for each submitted photograph. All these prepared digital files must be sent to the address „konkursi.nble@gmail.com" specially opened by the library for the competition, and the name of the competition must be clearly stated in the subject line of the email.

The final application date has been set as 10 Ağustos 2026, giving participants a long time to take plenty of photographs. Such cultural events pave the way for the local people to interact more actively with art and literature. This enjoyable combination of photography and the act of reading is also a beautiful indicator of the library's contribution to the vitality of cultural life in the city. The Leskovac Public Library continues to color the summer months with the inspiring frames submitted by readers and to spread the habit of reading to wider audiences.
