Two Trucks Collided on the Mersin-Adana Highway: A 16-Year-Old Teenager Lost Their Life

The traffic accident that occurred in the Huzurkent Mahallesi location of the Mersin-Adana highway resulted in a head-on collision between two trucks. In this gruesome accident, the cause of which has not yet been fully determined, the impact of the collision caused both vehicles to suffer heavy damage. The most tragic aspect of the accident was the death of 16-year-old Ş.Y., who was a passenger in one of the trucks. Despite all the checks made by medical teams, it was confirmed that the young passenger died at the scene. This tragic loss further increased the magnitude and severity of the accident. Security forces launched necessary investigations at the scene and took the young passenger's body from the scene. The fact that such accidents destroy young lives has also brought traffic safety discussions to the agenda in the region.

After the accident, B.T., one of the truck drivers who was severely injured, was placed in an ambulance following the initial intervention made by medical teams at the scene. Due to the severity of their injuries, the driver was urgently referred to the nearest hospital in the area. It was learned that the driver, who was taken to the hospital, is continuing their treatment process and is in critical condition. This situation once again highlighted the importance of the rapid and effective intervention of the medical teams in the region.

Y.Ç., the driver of the other truck involved in the accident, was trapped inside the vehicle due to the impact of the collision. The fire brigades carried out a long and difficult rescue operation for the driver, who could not get out of the vehicle on their own. As a result of the teams' intensive efforts, the driver, who was extracted from where they were trapped, was handed over to the medical teams at the scene. After receiving first intervention, Y.Ç. was also taken to the hospital by ambulance and placed under treatment.

While all these events were taking place, traffic on the Mersin-Adana highway was provided in a controlled manner for a while. The police teams arriving at the area both secured the crime scene and tried to regulate the traffic flow.
