Raid by MİT and Jandarma in Urla: 25-Year-Old Drug Trafficker Caught with Fake ID

In a joint operation conducted by the Millî İstihbarat Teşkilatı (MİT) and Jandarma elements in the Urla district of İzmir, a drug trafficker with a finalized prison sentence of 25 years was caught red-handed. It was determined that the suspect was preparing to flee abroad and was using a fake ID. As part of the operation, a raid was conducted on the address where the drug trafficker was staying, and an extensive search was carried out. The suspect, who was arrested by judicial authorities, was sent to prison after the procedures were completed. This successful operation once again demonstrated the determination of security forces in the fight against organized crime syndicates and drug trafficking.

This massive operation, carried out as a result of the coordinated work of the İzmir İl Jandarma Komutanlığı and MİT Başkanlığı, aimed to cut off the financial sources of terrorist and organized crime organizations. Within the scope of the investigation conducted under the instructions of the Urla Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, the address where the suspect was hiding in Kadıovacık Mahallesi was determined in advance. On 5 Temmuz 2026, security forces launched a surprise raid on the identified address, giving the suspect no chance to escape. The individual, who had been a fugitive for a long time and was determined to be preparing to flee abroad, was apprehended following a meticulous tracking process. Numerous pieces of evidence were collected on the person and in the home during the operation to investigate the dimensions of the criminal network.

In detailed searches of the home of the apprehended suspect named Ş.G.Ş., it was revealed that there was a highly professional drug production center. It was determined that the drug trafficker had set up a special climate control system in his home to grow drug plants and manufacture narcotics. Along with this climate control setup, 2 kilograms of cannabis resin were seized during the raid. According to the information obtained, thanks to this professional system, the suspect was both producing drugs and distributing them for commercial purposes. The seized materials and setups suggest that the criminal had been running this operation for a long time and with a large organization.

It was learned that the detained individual was referred to the courthouse after interrogation and procedures at the Jandarma. Ş.G.Ş., whose prosecution interrogation was completed, was arrested by the on-duty magistrate court to which he was brought and sent to prison. Authorities emphasized that although the suspect made a plan to flee abroad, this attempt was prevented thanks to the careful work of the intelligence agency and the Jandarma. It was stated that the investigation has been expanded to identify the organizational connections and potential accomplices of the arrested individual. It was announced that such operations will continue decisively to prevent drug use and trafficking.
