29 Detention Warrants in the Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Helicopter Crash Investigation

A new stage has been reached in the investigation regarding the death of Great Union Party (BBP) Founding Chairman Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu in a helicopter crash in 2009. Within the scope of the investigation, a detention warrant was issued for 29 suspects, the majority of whom are retired military personnel, pilots, and public officials. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that 25 of the suspects have been caught and the operation is ongoing.

The fact that former military personnel with ties to Muğla are among those detained has drawn attention. Former Army Pilot Captain Davut Uçum and former Non-Commissioned Officer Aydın Özsıcak are among the names who were previously processed during the coup attempt investigation. It was learned that both individuals were expelled from the Turkish Armed Forces following the 15 July coup attempt and were in prison.

Minister of Justice Gürlek, who made a statement on the matter, stated that he welcomed the meticulous work of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and law enforcement units. The Minister stated that the process will be followed decisively until all aspects of the incident are fully illuminated.
