Published in the Resmi Gazete: New traffic restrictions and inspections are coming for drivers

With the latest regulation change published in the Resmi Gazete, significant updates have been made to traffic rules across Turkey. It is now strictly prohibited for drivers to watch television broadcasts or videos via display devices located in the monitoring and usage area inside their vehicles while in motion. This new rule has been implemented under safety measures to prevent distracted driving and minimize accidents.

With the new regulation, not only visual elements but also the use of audio devices are subject to strict inspection. The regulation has also prohibited the use of audio devices in a way that projects sound outside the vehicle and disturbs the peace and comfort of the public. Thus, the aim is to protect both the drivers' own focus levels and the surrounding citizens from noise pollution.

If these prohibitions are violated, drivers will be penalized with administrative fines and necessary sanctions will be carried out by traffic inspection teams. To enforce the new rules, intensive control activities are planned on the field with traffic police and electronic surveillance systems. Experts emphasize that those embarking on long journeys and those in dense city traffic must comply with these rules.

Awareness campaigns have also been launched to inform drivers about mobile phone usage and other distracting elements inside the vehicle. In statements made, it was noted that drivers must focus solely on traffic to save lives and prevent accidents, otherwise, irreparable consequences may be faced. The new regulation brings updated standards in line with modern vehicle technologies and respect for human health.

This step, taken to increase traffic safety and preserve social peace, was prepared after a long period of work. With the decision published in the Resmi Gazete taking effect immediately, new obligations directly affecting millions of drivers have emerged. Although a temporary adaptation period is expected, it was stated that the prohibitions will be enforced strictly and clearly, inspections will be tightened, and deterrence will be increased.
