São Paulo Governor Tarcísio Criticizes Marina Silva and Simone Tebet as 'Not Natives'

São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas harshly criticized Simone Tebet and Marina Silva, who are running for the Senate from the state of São Paulo in this year's elections. The governor argued that these individuals are not fit to represent São Paulo, citing that both candidates began their political careers in other states. Tarcísio stated that he will actively campaign in the field for his supported candidates, Guilherme Derrite and André do Prado, and will do everything in his power to prevent his rivals from being elected. The statements in question were made during an event held in the interior of São Paulo and shared in a video on social media. These words once again highlighted how high the tension is in the Senate race in Brazil's largest and most populous state.

In the video in question, Tarcísio de Freitas reminded that Tebet and Marina Silva entered politics in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Acre, respectively, and served those states. Arguing that his two rivals should strive to be elected in their own home states, the governor used harsh rhetoric, claiming that they would not be successful there either. Additionally, Silva emphasized that she has a very deep personal bond with this state, saying that she came back from the brink of losing her life in three different malarial disease crises and survived thanks to the healthcare services she received in São Paulo.
