Ratko Mladić is referred to as the 'Butcher of Srebrenica' due to the military operations he carried out during the war years in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which made headlines worldwide, and the massacres against civilians. Mladić, who bears the responsibility for the Srebrenica massacre, recorded as one of the most brutal war crimes in history, was caught after years of fleeing, tried and sentenced to life imprisonment.
