Athletics Championship Held in Hama, Syria with the Participation of 65 Athletes

An important sports event was organized in Hama, Syria, by the technical committee operating in the athletics branch. The competitions, held on the running track of the Municipality Stadium, started on Saturday with wide participation. A total of 65 athletes from different age categories, including under 15 (stars), youth, and senior men, took to the field. Omar al-Khidr, a member of the Hama Athletics Technical Committee, made important statements to the SANA news agency during the event. Noting that the competitions were highly competitive and held in a high spirit of sportsmanship, al-Khidr stated that the participants struggled with great motivation. A total of 65 athletes participated in the championship, representing various established sports clubs in the region. Athletes from the Maarides, Fendere, Mihanne, Salamiyah, Hama Police Sports, and Suran clubs successfully defended their colors. This diversity allowed the championship to take on a structure that went beyond being just a competition, reinforcing sporting solidarity among different regions.

The competitions in question offer a rich program covering track and field events, which are the two main and most technical disciplines of athletics. In addition to track sports such as running, sprinting, and hurdles, fierce competitions also took place in field branches such as long jump, shot put, and javelin throw. This comprehensive structure allowed athletes to showcase their versatile talents. Spectators and coaches had the opportunity to closely observe the athletes' performances, obtaining critical data for future training programs. Evaluating the event at its conclusion, Omar al-Khidr stated that the championship yielded highly promising results for Syrian athletics. He emphasized that throughout the competitions, new athletic talents with significant potential, who could represent the country internationally in the future, shone through. However, noting that this raw talent needs to be properly cultivated, al-Khidr added that young athletes need much more intensive training programs to reach a professional level. It was stated that the high-level tournaments they will regularly participate in will accelerate this development process and increase their psychological and physical resilience. Finally, it was recalled that the coaching and refereeing training seminar held last month in Hama, with the participation of 40 trainees, formed the basis for these successes.
