Simultaneous Terror Operation in 3 Provinces: 17 Suspects Detained

The Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Branch Directorates, affiliated with the Muğla Emniyet Müdürlüğü, took action for a large-scale operation following a detailed and long-standing surveillance. Thanks to the coordinated work of the teams, simultaneous raids were conducted at the identified addresses. İstanbul and Adana illeri formed the other legs of the security operation, which was initiated focusing on Muğla and meticulously conducted. Thus, it was aimed to deal a significant blow to the terrorist organization through simultaneous operations carried out at the same time in three different cities. It was reported that the operation was conducted in a planned and precise manner, and the intelligence sharing of the security units was successfully implemented.

During the raids, a total of 17 suspects, who were wanted for the crimes of membership in an armed terrorist organization and making terrorist propaganda, were caught red-handed and detained. It was determined that the suspects engaged in illegal activities not only physically but also in the digital world. In the examinations carried out by law enforcement, it was determined that the detained individuals also shared posts containing criminal elements via their social media accounts. This comprehensive operation once again demonstrated how effective the security units are in the fight against terrorism, both in the field and in cyberspace. It was announced that there is serious evidence that the captured suspects had previous connections with various terrorist organizations.

Police teams also conducted detailed searches at the residences of the detained suspects, uncovering significant criminal evidence. During the house searches, an unlicensed pistol and eight bullets belonging to this pistol were seized at the locations where the suspects were harbored. In addition, a large number of organizational books, magazines, newspapers, and photographs containing the illegal activities of the armed terrorist organization were found by the teams. These seized materials were taken to the police station by the security forces for a closer examination of the ideological and logistical networks of the organization. Along with weapons and physical documents, numerous digital materials were also confiscated and sent to laboratories for examination in order to elucidate the organizational communication and digital activities.

It was reported that the interrogation procedures at the police station for the 17 suspects detained within the scope of the simultaneous operation were started immediately. During the interrogations conducted by security officials, the questioning to determine the suspects' roles within the organization and to identify their potential accomplices is meticulously ongoing. Furthermore, the digital data collected from the suspects' homes is expected to be examined in detail by cybercrime units. Upon the completion of these examinations, it was decided that the suspects, whose statements were taken and whose charges were clarified, would be referred to judicial authorities. It is planned that the suspects will be taken to the courthouse in the shortest possible time to be brought before a judge.

In order to prevent terrorist organizations from operating throughout Türkiye, security forces continue their such raids and intelligence-supported operations without slowing down. This last operation went down in history as an important step demonstrating the determination of the security units against the separatist terrorist organization and their commitment to operating the legal process regardless of the situation. Officials emphasized that the fight against terrorism will continue with determination, and all kinds of attempts to disrupt the peace of the nation will be prevented.
