Drug Operations in Afyonkarahisar: 4 People Detained

Within the scope of the determined fight against drug trade and use in Afyonkarahisar, significant operations have been carried out recently by the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Police Department and Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams. In a detailed search of a vehicle stopped on suspicion at application points created at city entrances by police teams, four pieces of napkin, assessed to have drugs impregnated in them, were seized. The suspects M.T.K., A.G., and H.K. found in the vehicle were taken into custody immediately after the incident and taken to the police department. The suspects, whose statements were taken here and against whom necessary judicial processes were initiated, were detained by the on-duty magistrate's court at the courthouse they were sent to with the accusation of 'Trading drugs or stimulants'.

Gendarmerie Command teams also conducted an operation in Salar town as a result of intelligence work within the scope of studies for the capture of wanted persons. In the light of field work and information obtained, it was determined that convict U.D., who has a finalized 10-year prison sentence for 'Trading and providing drugs or stimulants', was in the region. Gendarmerie teams, who raided the determined address simultaneously, caught the convict red-handed and took him into custody. After the completion of identification procedures and other official formalities at the gendarmerie, U.D. was sent to the courthouse and was delivered to the penal institution by the court.

In the statements made by the authorities, it was emphasized that the efforts to prevent drug trade and use will continue resolutely and without compromise throughout the city. Both police and gendarmerie teams continue intelligence-based operations without interruption, not only limited to road applications. It was stated that the fight against drug crimes, which threaten public health and darken the future of the youth, operates intensely at every level. It is planned that these controls of the security forces will continue to increase in the coming period.

It was stated that the drugs seized within the scope of the operations were sent for criminal examination and the judicial processes were managed meticulously. It was recorded that the investigations proceed under the coordination of the relevant chief public prosecutor's offices and within legal frameworks.
