Operation Against Suspect Who Fled Without Payment Claiming to be Gendarmerie in Alanya

An interesting fraud attempt that unsettled business owners and citizens in Alanya, a tourist district of Antalya, was brought to light. According to obtained information, a person who came to a business operating in the district displayed unexpected behavior while about to pay for his meal, introducing himself as gendarmerie personnel. Making this claim a form of innuendo or tool of pressure, the suspect left the business without paying the bill, assuming he had authoritative identity. Realizing the situation, the employee or owner of the business reported the situation to security forces to initiate the necessary legal processes for the investigation of the incident and the apprehension of the person.

The Alanya District Gendarmerie Command teams, who evaluated the report regarding the issue, immediately started work to identify and capture the person in question. In addition to the initial examinations at and around the scene, statements taken from business owners and security camera footage were examined in detail. As a result of meticulous investigations, information was obtained that the suspect, who tried to gain unfair benefits using a gendarmerie identity, could be found in different parts of the city. Based on the clues obtained, teams prepared an operation to determine the address where the suspect was located and to detain him.

Within the scope of the planned operation, the gendarmerie teams, who raided the determined address, succeeded in neutralizing this person who disturbed peace and security. As a result of the identification made and the statements taken, the suspect, whose name was not disclosed, was detained on charges of intentional fraud and misuse of the reputation of official institutions. No information was shared regarding the finding of any official identity document or gendarmerie uniform during the search of the person or on his person. This situation shows that the suspect tried to prove his identity only verbally and attempted to deceive the victims by acting as if he were a public official.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Prosecutor's Office, the nature of the crimes allegedly committed by the person and the fraud methods are being examined in depth.
