Minister Kurum thanked dede Yusuf for taking care of him in Adıyaman

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum visited the home of 65-year-old Abdullah Çelik, who lost nine family members in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and raised his grandson Yusuf Berk instead of his daughter, as part of his Adıyaman program. During the visit, Minister Kurum thanked dede Çelik, appreciating the difficult process he lived through and his sense of ownership for his grandson. Minister Kurum emphasized the importance of supporting the family, which suffered great losses in the earthquake, in their new lives, stating that the state is always by the side of the citizens, and conveyed his get-well-soon wishes to the Çelik family. At the visit held in the new house built in Adıyaman İndere location, Minister Kurum playing games with grandson Yusuf Berk and opening the gifts he brought with the child caused emotional moments to be experienced. Minister Kurum, addressing the family, stated that he offered his thanks to Allah for the attachment to Yusuf and conveyed the greetings of Sayın Cumhurbaşkanı, making them feel that their peace and happiness were guaranteed.

Abdullah Çelik had to accept a painful grief by losing his father Abdurrahman, daughter Berrin, grandson Nilsu, sibling's children Muhammed, Elif and Berat, daughter Merve, daughter-in-law Melahat and nephew İsmail in the February 6 earthquakes. His grandson Yusuf Berk Güzeldemirci, who was taken out of the rubble in his cradle and was only 40 days old at that time, became the only reason for Çelik to hold on to life and his greatest consolation. Continuing to raise his grandson without receiving support from anyone, Abdullah Çelik stated his faith in the state in response to Minister Kurum's appreciation with the following words: "You are standing up for the state; I just stood up for a Yusuf, is it too much?". This dialogue brought to light both the traces of the earthquake and the trust the people feel for each other, causing the moments that made the participants of the visit emotional to be lived once again.

The sincere dialogue between Minister Kurum and dede Çelik went down in history as a concrete example of the mutual loyalty and debt of loyalty between the nation and the state. In response to Minister Kurum's words, "May Allah be pleased with you since you are standing up for Yusuf", Abdullah Çelik's words, "The state looks after those like Yusuf very well, if the state is strong, everything will be fine", were recorded as the most striking and meaningful memories of the visit. In the visit where the concrete results of the urban transformation and reconstruction processes initiated in Adıyaman after the earthquake were seen, Abdullah Çelik's words, "We found consolation when these houses were built and the state stood by us", once again revealed the human face of the reconstruction process. Minister Kurum, recalling his promise to raise Adıyaman as a more beautiful, clean and green city than before, said that the given word was kept and significant progress was made in the rebuilding of the city. This visit was not limited to just a single family but also undertook an important mission in showing how the reconstruction process works in the region and how the state-nation cooperation is concretized. New houses offer earthquake-affected citizens not only a shelter but also an opportunity to hold on to life again and look to the future with hope.

Following the end of the visit, Minister Kurum toured the renewed square in the city center within the scope of his Adıyaman program and met with merchants and citizens to chat. Listening to the demands and happy faces of the citizens, Minister Kurum left this meaningful meeting, which was part of Adıyaman's standing up again, after his visit. Minister Kurum stated that the state is always compassionate to the earthquake-affected citizens and that steps towards normalization such as children playing in parks are gratifying. The stories of both dede Abdullah and Yusuf proved to the whole country once again how critical the perseverance of our citizens and the supportive role of the state are in healing the wounds of the February 6 earthquakes, and this visit created a spiritual unity.
