27 Dead, 63 Injured in Bar Fire in Bangkok

In a massive fire that broke out late at night in a bar in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, 27 people lost their lives and 63 people were injured. Flames and thick smoke spread rapidly, engulfing the venue and preventing the customers inside from escaping. The incident went down as one of the biggest disasters the city has experienced in recent times.

The fire started after midnight, and firefighting teams arrived at the scene shortly after, bringing the flames under control in about half an hour. In statements from officials, it was noted that many victims lost their lives in the toilets at the back of the venue, where they had taken shelter to escape the flames and smoke. The injured were taken to surrounding hospitals, and some were reported to be in critical condition.

Based on initial assessments, the fire is believed to have possibly originated from a fault in an electrical panel near the stage area. An explosion that occurred following the power outage is thought to have contributed to the rapid spread of the flames. The Prime Minister of Thailand visited the scene and ordered a comprehensive investigation to be launched and security standards to be reviewed.
