Call to Hasina from Bangladesh Opposition: Surrender Today, Not December

Syed Emran Saleh Prince, Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), strongly criticized former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a speech in different regions of the country. Prince claimed that fascist forces have begun hatching a new conspiracy to sabotage the democracy and development process led by Tarique Rahman, who came to power through a popular uprising and subsequent elections. In this context, he stated that Hasina's claims of returning to the country in December are part of these instability plans. The speaker emphasized that as a fugitive defendant sentenced to death by the court, Hasina must return to the country immediately and face justice.

Syed Emran Saleh Prince questioned Sheikh Hasina's sincerity, claiming that because of the war she waged against her people and the mass killing orders she gave during the uprising, she would not dare to return to the country. He alleged that during her asylum in India, the former leader has been regularly inciting her fugitive supporters to crumble the country from within through remote control. During this process, he called on the people and all political forces supporting the popular uprising, including the BNP, to be extremely vigilant against these conspiracies established by the remnants of the former regime. He added that local organization must be strengthened to prevent any attempt to disrupt the country's stability.

The event where the speech took place was a memorial ceremony and prayer gathering held at Ghoshber Government Primary School in Jugli Union of Haluaghat area. This event was organized by the initiative of regional farmer organizations in memory of the late Sheikh Sadir, a prominent farmer leader of the region who recently passed away. Syed Emran Saleh Prince, speaking at the memorial meeting, described Sheikh Sadir as a brave organizational volunteer who sacrificed everything for the party, dedicated his life, and was tested in difficult times. He stated that the late Sadir worked fearlessly like a soldier in the struggle against fascism and was a true friend who shared the farmers' concerns.

In the speech, which also touched upon the political and economic agenda, the steps taken by the current government and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to raise the living standards of farmers were praised. In line with Tarique Rahman's vision, the glad tidings were given that a pilot application of a special 'farmer card' system for farmers is about to be launched in Haluaghat and Dobaoura regions. Through this system, it is planned to identify actual farmers and deliver assistance directly to them starting in September. It was stated that this project is a unique and extremely humanitarian initiative launched to support helpless farmers living in rural areas, emphasizing that the government will continue to work uninterruptedly.

At the end of the day, all party leaders and activists who attended the memorial ceremony were called upon to unite further to keep the legacy and ideals left by the late Sheikh Sadir alive. The grief of his old friends and political companions was asked to be turned not into a weakness, but into a source of strength to continue the struggle. The speaker expressed that sorrow should be alleviated by realizing the unfinished goals and dreams of the deceased leader. The speech concluded with the wish that the organization must be solidified starting from every corner of the street and the party must prepare more strongly for the future by fully gaining the confidence of the people.
