Pickup Truck Rolls Off Cliff in Bingöl: 3 Dead, 2 Injured

In a traffic accident that occurred in Akçadamlar Mahallesi, affiliated with the Yayladere district of Bingöl, 3 people lost their lives after a pickup truck with the license plate 12 AAE 897 rolled off a cliff. It was determined that the accident occurred due to the driver losing control of the steering wheel, and 2 people were rescued injured. Immediately after the incident, numerous emergency teams were dispatched to the region. Health, gendarmerie, AFAD, and UMKE teams arrived at the scene shortly and started their operations. It was assessed that the geographical structure of the area where the accident occurred also contributed to the severity of the crash.

Following the report of the accident, the teams arriving in the region quickly planned a dispatch for the treatment of the injured. The two injured individuals were transported to Adaklı Toplum Sağlığı Merkezi by ambulances after their initial interventions. It was learned that following the initial treatments and stabilization procedures there, the patients were transferred to Bingöl Devlet Hastanesi to receive further advanced medical care. No detailed statement has yet been made regarding whether the hospitalized injured individuals have life-threatening conditions. Authorities stated that despite transportation challenges in the area, the medical evacuation process was successfully conducted.

The lifeless bodies of the 3 people who lost their lives at the scene were removed after the initial examinations conducted by the public prosecutor and gendarmerie teams. After the investigation and crime scene inspection procedures were completed flawlessly, the bodies were sent to the morgue for autopsy. Following the completion of the autopsy procedures, the bodies are expected to be handed over to their families. Gendarmerie teams conducted extensive examinations for a long time at the edge of the cliff where the accident occurred. It was reported that technical evidence regarding why and how the vehicle lost control was collected during these examinations.

It is not yet clear why the driver of the pickup truck involved in the accident lost control of the steering wheel. Gendarmerie teams are investigating whether there is a possible technical failure, a reason related to the road or weather conditions, or human error behind the accident. As part of the comprehensive investigation launched regarding the matter, it is planned to remove the vehicle from the scene for examination. It was also reported that eyewitness testimonies were referred to and these statements were included in the investigation file. Authorities announced that a detailed briefing to the public is planned once the investigation process is completed.

It is evaluated that driver training and awareness campaigns should also be increased to prevent such painful accidents from happening again.
