Brazilian Federal Police: Bolsonaro's former minister received 550 thousand reais in INSS bribe

The Brazilian Federal Police accused former President Jair Bolsonaro's Social Security Minister, Ahmed Mohamad Oliveira, of receiving bribes as part of the INSS corruption. The investigation revealed that Oliveira received 550 thousand Brazilian reais in bribes through front companies linked to improper deductions. Additionally, it was determined that 500 thousand reais were delivered to him in cash in August 2022.

According to the Federal Police, businessman Cícero Marcelino de Souza sent this money in three separate transfers between October 2022 and February 2023. The cash payment was made through an employee trusted by Oliveira. In the investigation files, it was discovered that the former minister appeared in the criminal organization's internal communications under code names such as "Abou Yasser", "Yabo", and "The Minister".

Oliveira is alleged to have received the bribes in order to ensure the institution remained inactive in the face of the INSS fraud. Allegedly, he also approved the release of 15.3 million reais without searching for technical specification documents. It was reported that the former minister took voluntary retirement in October of last year, receiving his full salary as an INSS technical employee.
