Natural gas explosion in Çorlu: 2 dead, 5 injured, investigation launched

A massive explosion occurring late at night on the top floor of a 6-story apartment building located in Hıdırağa Mahallesi, Çorlu district of Tekirdağ, created a shock effect. According to initial determinations and the first examinations by teams dispatched to the scene, the explosion is thought to have been caused by a natural gas leak, while immediately after the incident, numerous health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the region. Security forces arriving at the scene took extensive security precautions in the area, keeping panicked citizens away, while fire departments evacuated the building and started cooling work against the risk of fire.

While significant material damage occurred in the apartment due to the impact of the explosion in the apartment building at Borsa Meydanı, structural damage was also observed on the exterior facade of the building. After the initial emergency intervention by health teams at the scene, the injured were dispatched by ambulances to nearby hospitals based on their vital risks. In the controls and counts made, it was confirmed by official sources that 2 people lost their lives at the scene due to the severity of the explosion, and 5 people were injured and taken under treatment.
