Dar City and Vijana Queens Rise to the Top in the Basketball Dar es Salaam League

Dar City, the reigning champion in the excitement of the 2026 Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL), secured the top spot in the men's category with their flawless performance in recent weeks. Having won all nine of their matches, the team reached 18 points, maintaining their status as the only undefeated team in the league. This superior performance by Dar City dropped the Pazi team, which was in the leader position last week, to third place. The change in leadership once again highlighted how fiercely competitive the league is.

In the current standings of the league, Stein Warriors secured second place with an advantage in point differential, while Pazi fell behind due to the point difference, sitting in the third position. Both teams managed to win eight of the nine matches they played. However, Dar City's undefeated performance since the early weeks allowed them to rise to the top with a one-point difference. The fact that the championship race continues so fiercely indicates that the excitement will last until the end of the season.

In the men's category, UDSM Outsiders is currently trying to hold on to the upper ranks, sitting in fourth place with 15 points collected so far. The fifth and sixth positions are shared by the Vijana and JKT teams, respectively, with 14 points each. In the league, where a total of 16 men's teams compete, ABC is in seventh place with 13 points obtained from eight matches. The exceptionally small point differences between the top teams increase the possibility of surprising results.

In the women's category, Vijana Queens managed to secure the top spot with a massive surge in form in recent weeks. Previously sitting in third place last week, the team sat in the leader's seat with 19 points collected as a result of the 11 matches they played. This situation pushed Tausi Royals, who drew attention with their undefeated streak until recent weeks, to second place. Although Tausi Royals managed to collect 18 points at the end of 9 matches, unlike the leader, they hold the distinction of not having been defeated at all this season.

In the women's league standings, DB Troncatti is competing in third place with 16 points collected so far. Reel Dream and Ukonga Queens teams are striving to reach the top ranks, sitting in fourth and fifth places with 14 points each. Jeshi Stars, despite having played only seven matches, drew attention in sixth place, having achieved six wins and reaching 13 points.
