Brotherly Quarrel in Diyarbakır Ends in Blood: One Dead, One in Custody

A tragic incident reaching the level of domestic violence occurred yesterday evening in the evening hours at Önen Sokak, Cami Nebi Mahallesi in the central Sur district of Diyarbakır. A verbal argument that started between two siblings and whose cause has not yet been fully clarified turned into a physical fight in a short time. As the tension between the brothers grew, the event turned into a knife fight and reached an irreversible point at this stage. Upon the incident being heard by surrounding citizens and the situation escalating, authorities were notified and help was requested from health and security teams.

During the fight, Engin G., identified as the suspect, attacked his own brother Erdoğan G. using the knife in his hand. As a result of the attack, Erdoğan G. was seriously injured by knife blows to various parts of his body and collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood. Although a 112 Emergency Health team and security forces were dispatched to the scene, Erdoğan G. could unfortunately not hold on to life despite all interventions. Following the detailed examination and checks by the health team at the scene, it was officially determined that the injured person had lost his life.

After the incident, police teams arriving at the scene took extensive security measures in the vicinity, brought the area under control, and conducted investigations. Engin G., determined to be the suspect of the murder, was neutralized and taken into custody by police teams in a short time due to being in close proximity to the scene. The detained suspect was transferred to the relevant units of the police headquarters to have his statement taken and for necessary legal proceedings to continue. It was learned that the investigation regarding the suspect continues at the police station and that work has been initiated to clarify the details of the incident.

This incident, which caused deep social sorrow, once again revealed how dangerous the consequences of domestic violence and instant anger control can be. With the tragic fight ending with brothers stabbing each other, not only a family but the peace of an entire neighborhood was shattered. While this tragic event in Diyarbakır's Sur district caused anxiety and shock among the residents of the area, it was noted that police teams were conducting a meticulous investigation regarding the incident. After the on-scene investigations were completed, the body was removed to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.

It is emphasized that especially economic difficulties, excessive stress, and momentary arguments can lead to tragic consequences in environments where weapons or cutting tools are easily accessible. Police officials announced that the investigation into the matter continues in all aspects and that the suspect will be referred to the judicial authorities.
