Heatwaves and fire risk trigger alarm in southern France: Two departments on orange, six on red code

Local residents and tourists visiting for vacation are invited to strictly adhere to the safety instructions published by the authorities. Those living or traveling in red-coded areas with fire risk are asked to note down emergency numbers and call 112 (or the local emergency number) immediately if they notice any sign of fire. To protect against the heat wave, it is vital to wear loose, light clothing, avoid going out in the sun at noon, and rest in shaded areas if possible. Additionally, sensitive groups such as the elderly and children need to be monitored specifically.

Meteorological forecasts indicate that temperatures will continue to remain above seasonal norms for the next few days. Although a slight drop in temperatures is expected starting mid-week, the fire risk cannot be considered completely over. This mixed weather table in southern France is considered a reflection of the difficult seasonal conditions brought by climate change.
