Machete Attack on High School Student by Classmate in Ghana

The chilling incident that occurred at Assin Krofofrodo D/A Primary School in the Assin North district of Ghana's Central Region has brought the issues of school administration negligence and violence among students back to the agenda. A 15-year-old male student attending the first grade of middle school was severely injured with a machete by a female student in the same class. The incident took place while the school administration assigned students to clear overgrown weeds in the schoolyard. Allegedly, the male student repeatedly touched the female student's chest during the garden cleaning, disturbing her. The fact that the female student resorted to violence directly by taking the knife instead of reporting the situation to the teachers made the incident even more tragic.

According to the details of the incident, the female student claims that her male friend constantly harassed her and did not change his behavior despite her warnings. It is stated that the male student insisted on touching the girl's chest and completely ignored her warnings. Angered by this situation, the female student took the machete in her hand and struck the male student's wrist hard. As a result of this blow, the young male student suffered a severe cut injury and began to lose blood rapidly. The family of the injured student accused the school authorities of negligence, arguing that the necessary care was not provided despite the incident occurring during school hours. The family showed a strong reaction to the situation, stating that the school administration did not immediately take the child to the hospital and did not provide emergency medical intervention. Furthermore, it was claimed that despite the student's severe blood loss, he was left helpless for a long time until his parent returned from the farm. Joyce Enyan, the older sister of the injured child, made striking statements regarding the incident as the family's spokesperson and called the school administration to account. Enyan brought a different dimension to the story, claiming that her brother accidentally touched a female friend's chest while playing during the incident and that this was not an intentional act of harassment. However, noting that the severity of the injury was very serious, Enyan stated that the teachers did not pay enough attention to the injured student and that the child was about to faint. Emphasizing that the child was soaked in blood and experienced great trauma, the older sister demanded a comprehensive investigation from the police into the school authorities. The family stated that they would seek their legal rights, thinking that the child's life was endangered due to the school administration's negligence.
