FETÖ Operation in Gaziantep: Convict H.Y. Arrested

An important operation was carried out in Gaziantep within the scope of the struggle against terrorist organizations. Teams from the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command initiated a study to decipher terrorist organizations operating throughout the province, under the coordination and instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Within the scope of these studies, a target whose internal structure within the organization and past activities were examined in detail was identified. Intelligence work regarding the issue was deepened, and the possible hiding places and movement routes of the wanted person were determined. As a result of the planning, the necessary measures were taken for the operation to be successfully concluded and the teams were dispatched.

The target of the operation was identified as H.Y., who had a final prison sentence for the crime of being a member of the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization. This person, who was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison in the trial in which he was tried, was on the wanted list for not surrendering to prison to serve his sentence. The Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Teams (JASAT) within the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command carried out a special study to effectively apprehend the person. As a result of numerous technical and physical surveillances, information was obtained that the convict was hiding in the Organized Industrial Zone region of Gaziantep's İslahiye district. The button was pressed for the operation based on this information.

JASAT teams, who raided the determined address in the İslahiye Organized Industrial Zone simultaneously, managed to catch the suspect red-handed with a surprise operation. The teams, who took control of the person at the scene without letting H.Y. escape, verified the identity information of the person and initiated legal procedures. The convict, who was detained for the execution of the arrest warrants against him, was brought to the Gaziantep Provincial Gendarmerie Command center for his first statement and proceedings. While a detailed investigation regarding the person's organizational ties and the period he was hiding was carried out here, he was kept under strict protection by the security forces.

After the completion of administrative and judicial procedures at the gendarmerie center, H.Y. was brought before the on-duty magistrate at the Gaziantep Courthouse to which he was referred. The person, whose statement was taken by the Peace Criminal Judgeship and decided to be arrested on the grounds that there was a final prison sentence, had his detention period extended to be handed over to prison. With the arrest process, the execution of the 6-year and 3-month prison sentence given to him has begun. The arrested convict was transferred to prison under the escort of security forces.

This operation once again revealed that the fight against terrorist organizations in Gaziantep continues with determination. The Provincial Gendarmerie Command continues its work uninterruptedly to catch other fugitive and convict persons who are still being searched for. It was emphasized that no indifference will be shown against any kind of activity of terrorist organizations in order to ensure the peace and security of the citizens, and in particular, persons who are members of or affiliated with structures such as FETÖ/PDY will continue to be caught and delivered to justice. It was stated that the successful operation was an important source of motivation in the process of catching other wanted persons.
