Unlicensed gun and 'change' vehicle seized in Gebze: Suspect in custody

Teams from the Kocaeli Emniyet Müdürlüğü Kaçakçılık ve Organize Suçlarla Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğü conducted a comprehensive operation aimed at preventing illegal arms trade in the Gebze district. As a result of technical and physical surveillance conducted by the Gebze KOM Büro Amirliği, it was determined that a suspect was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and harboring a replica vehicle known as a 'change'. Acting upon this, police teams simultaneously executed a search warrant at the suspect's address in Gebze. During the operation, regional security measures were maximized to guard against any adverse scenarios. In the detailed searches conducted at the suspect's residence, numerous illegal firearms and ammunition were seized.

During the searches, a total of two Glock pistols, one .45 caliber and the other 9 mm, were found in the suspect's home. Two magazines believed to belong to these pistols were also among the items confiscated by security forces. Additionally, as the operation expanded, ammunition of different calibers and types was seized; these include 52 .45 caliber cartridges and 53 9 mm cartridges. Furthermore, 15 7.65 mm caliber cartridges were discovered during the searches and recorded as criminal evidence. It is assessed that the seized weapons and ammunition were obtained illegally and could have been used in various criminal activities. All these materials were handed over to the relevant units for examination and to be presented as evidence in the judicial process.

As part of the operation, not only weapons and ammunition but also a vehicle registered under the suspect's name drew attention. Following a detailed technical examination by security units, it was definitively determined that the vehicle in question was a 'change' vehicle. 'Change' vehicles typically emerge when the chassis numbers and identity information of stolen or snatched original vehicles are altered and reintroduced into the market. Such vehicles are frequently favored by criminal organizations both for smuggling activities and to quickly flee the scene after a crime is committed. It was learned that the suspect's harboring of this vehicle is considered a crucial piece of evidence indicating a possible connection to organized crime networks. After it was determined that the vehicle was used as an instrument of crime, all its records and registrations were taken under inspection, and the vehicle was officially seized and impounded.

Following the operation, the suspect was taken into custody and delivered to the police. Interrogation processes were initiated to take the individual's statement and confront them with the seized evidence. Security forces deepened the investigation to uncover the suspect's other connections in order to fully expose their ties to the illegal arms trade and the replica vehicle market. During the investigations, security cameras and digital materials are being analyzed to determine whether the individual committed these crimes alone or is part of a larger organization. The Kocaeli Emniyet Müdürlüğü announced that similar operations will continue decisively with the goal of eliminating the circulation of illegal weapons and the activities of organized crime syndicates in the city. It is emphasized that such operations are of critical importance for the peace of the regional public and public safety.

Judicial proceedings containing serious charges were initiated against the detained suspect within the scope of the ongoing investigation. The charge of violating the 6136 Sayılı Ateşli Silahlar ve Bıçaklar ile Diğer Aletler Hakkında Kanun was brought against the suspect for possessing these weapons without legal permits. In addition, a charge of forgery in official documents was added to the file due to the detection of the 'change' vehicle registered in their name. It is considered that individuals prosecuted under this law act with the intention of disrupting public peace and creating criminal elements. The digital and physical evidence collected during the investigation process will form the basis for demanding aggravated penalties for the suspect, who is to be transferred to the Gebze Adliyesi. The decisive intervention of law enforcement is seen as one of the most important steps taken to reduce crime rates and prevent illegal activities in the region.
