Loud Explosion Sound in Görele Caused Fear

A loud explosion sound that occurred in the Umutlu and Karakeş villages of Görele district in Giresun caused great panic among the local residents. Following the incident, gendarmerie teams swiftly dispatched to the area launched a large-scale investigation to determine the source of the explosion. During the initial inspections, no object or debris that could have caused the explosion was found, while it was reported that investigations are ongoing. Karakeş village headman Nihat Yılmaz shared important details about the frightening moments, revealing the scale of the incident. Stating that some houses in the village even shook when the loud explosion sound was heard, Yılmaz expressed how much this unknown situation frightened the public. He stated that immediately after the incident, his brother-in-law Mehmet Topçu called him to report that small pieces like shotgun pellets had fallen onto his house, upon which he notified the gendarmerie. Gendarmerie teams arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, and managed to find a few pieces. However, headman Yılmaz added that no official information was provided to them regarding what these found pieces were.

It emerged that the impact of the explosion sound was not limited to only the Umutlu and Karakeş villages, but was also heard from many surrounding settlements. According to the statements of headman Nihat Yılmaz, residents from the Tirebolu, Kovanpınar, Işıklı, Karlı, and Doğancı villages also stated that they heard the same loud explosion sound. This wide area of resonance indicates that the source and impact of the incident cover a larger area. The fact that citizens living in neighboring villages also experienced similar panic increases the seriousness and scope of the situation. Authorities felt the need to expand the investigation area by evaluating these reports coming from different regions.
