Second Suspect Arrested in Güney San Antonio Murder

A second suspect has been detained in connection with the brutal murder that occurred in the Güney region of the San Antonio, located in the Teksas state of the ABD, last May. According to Bexar County court records, 29-year-old Rene Moreno was arrested on Saturday and officially charged with murder. The incident came to light when the victim, 39-year-old Eric Tellez Perez, was found lifeless inside an abandoned house. Authorities confirmed that the victim had severe trauma to the back of his head and died at the scene. While the court process for the arrested suspect continues, the investigation file continues to expand with the emergence of new evidence.

The first units to arrive at the murder scene launched a large-scale investigation to understand what happened in the area at the time of the incident. Arriving at the abandoned house located in the 8900 block of Prairie Hill at around 13.30 on the day of the incident, police officers found the victim Perez unresponsive and immediately requested medical support. According to statements, a neighbor living across the street approached the police officers, claiming that he had an argument with Perez in the morning hours. Authorities determined that the visible wounds on the neighbor's face were consistent with his account. Upon this, detectives obtained a formal warrant to search the neighbor's house and discovered security cameras overlooking the crime scene.

One of the most critical pieces of evidence obtained during the search of the house was a DVR camera system recording the area. Detectives reviewing the security camera footage determined that three different men wearing masks entered the abandoned house where Perez's body was found. In the footage, it was clearly established that one of the suspects was carrying an aluminum bat, another was carrying a metal pipe, and the third person appeared to be unarmed. Authorities claim that the newly arrested Rene Moreno is one of these three masked individuals and that he was carrying the metal pipe during the incident. While these images strengthen the possibility that the incident might have been a planned attack, the camera recordings remain central to the investigation.

A significant development had previously occurred regarding the incident, and 51-year-old Victor Sigala was identified among the suspects. Sigala was detained during an operation conducted while he was sleeping at home, and after it was determined that he was carrying the aluminum bat during the incident, he was arrested on murder charges in June. In his statement to detectives following his arrest, Sigala confessed that Moreno was with him during the attack and that he struck Perez. Following this statement, the police conducted an in-depth investigation to definitively identify Moreno. Detectives clarified the suspect's identity by examining police body camera footage taken about a mile away from the scene, weeks after the date the murder took place.

As a result of the examinations, highly specific details such as the large silver wallet chain Moreno carried, a prominent dark stain on his left hand, and a large silver skull ring on his left pinky finger were identified. Detectives stated that these distinguishing features perfectly matched the features of the individual in the DVR camera footage from the day of the murder. In addition to the camera recordings, following the identification of Moreno by numerous witnesses in connection with the attack, the investigation was completed, and an arrest warrant was issued. Moreno was remanded to the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Sunday, and his official procedures were initiated. Authorities state that, thanks to the comprehensive judicial investigation conducted, a significant step has been taken towards ensuring justice for the victim.
