Famous DLF Food Street in Haydarabad Demolished in Eviction Operation

In the city of Haydarabad, Hindistan, the famous DLF food street was completely demolished in a comprehensive eviction and demolition operation carried out by the local administration on Cuma. Officials from the Cyberabad Belediye Başkanlığı (CMC) launched the operation to reclaim public spaces so that pedestrians and vehicle traffic can move more freely. Small food stalls, particularly operating around DLF in the Gachibowli area and housing about 48 occupied structures, were dismantled one by one by heavy machinery. Officials announced that a total of 22.28 kilometers of sidewalks and road lanes were cleared of occupying structures. Images rapidly spreading on social media and statements from local shopkeepers confirm that a large portion of the popular food area in the region has been destroyed.

The demolished DLF Road is located within the boundaries of the Serilingampally Circle, one of the important areas of Haydarabad, and this operation was not limited to just one street. In an intervention covering a total area of 9.86 kilometers in the Serilingampally Region alone, 193 different occupied structures were removed. The teams targeted all illegal structures scattered across different parts of the city that were causing a nuisance to the environment. The Serilingampally Bölge Komiseri, in a statement made via their social media accounts, emphasized that this operation aims to ensure an order compliant with city planning by eliminating illegal structures. Additionally, it was stated that beyond applying an administrative penalty against squatters, the physical removal of these structures would also contribute to the modern appearance of the city.

The comprehensive operation included numerous simultaneous demolitions and warning activities carried out in different regions. While 32 illegal structures were destroyed on Pipeline Road under the Narsingi Circle, 46 occupants were displaced along the Radial Road-7 route within the Patancheru Circle boundaries. In addition to these, 38 more occupied structures on Beeramguda Main Road in the Ameenpur Circle and 29 on JP Nagar Road in the Miyapur Circle were dismantled by the authorities. This large-scale cleanup effort is seen as part of a comprehensive strategy planned to solve the city's infrastructure problems and relieve congestion in specific areas. Local officials are signaling that similar interventions will continue in different neighborhoods in the future.

The DLF food street was known as a highly popular break and dining area, especially for professionals working in the giant technology offices and IT (Information Technology) parks in Gachibowli. Thousands of software developers, engineers, and IT sector employees working in the area frequently preferred these small and affordable food stalls during their lunch breaks and after work. However, in recent years, this situation had led to the complete closure of sidewalks and roads, creating a severe traffic and safety problem. Authorities argue that they intervened because these structures obstructed traffic and pedestrian flow, as well as being non-compliant with infrastructure regulations and zoning plans. While the demolition operation is expected to cause significant disruption in the daily lives of IT workers, it also paves the way for a more orderly and safer pedestrian passage.

During the eviction operation, social media, particularly the X (formerly known as Twitter) platform, was instantly flooded with live footage from the area. Users shared videos and photos of heavy machinery tearing down the famous DLF food court, expressing their reaction to the situation. Local news channels broadcasting in Telugu provided live coverage of the details of this operation, which was carried out under strong police protection. While a large part of the public was pleased that traffic congestion would be relieved, some expressed concerns about finding cheap and quick meals due to the closure of the food stalls. Authorities stated that the region would be modernly reorganized and proper sidewalk lines would be established after the demolition, arguing that this operation is a critical step for the long-term peace of the city.
