3 People Arrested in Gold Robbery Targeting Indian Jeweler

It has been reported that 3 people have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a gold trader who was on his way back from Kerala, in the Suratkal region of Telangana state. In this incident that took place near Mangalavaram, police teams launched a coordinated investigation between the two states due to the use of vehicles with Karnataka license plates and the suspects' Kerala connections. Vikas, a jeweler returning to the Payyannur region of Karnataka with his wife and son after attending a wedding in Goa, was targeted by being stopped on the road. The police had launched a massive manhunt on the possibility that the suspects could cross the border, as the vehicles involved in the incident had Kerala license plates, noting that there were a total of 15 suspects related to the incident. It was stated that among those detained within the scope of this operation were Nimal from Kannur district, and Irshad and Mustafa from Madikeri district.

According to the details of the incident, it was stated that Vikas, while returning after attending a family wedding in Maharashtra, had his way blocked by a group of 7 people coming in two Innova and one Swift brand vehicles, and he was forcibly taken into the vehicle. The suspects, after dropping Vikas's family on the road, managed to seize 180 grams of gold by besieging him. The suspects, who forced Vikas's family to abandon the vehicle by threatening them, took approximately 350,000 Rupees worth of gold he was carrying for jewelry production and fled the scene quickly. Following this violent incident, Vikas immediately went to Panambur Police Station to report the situation and requested help from the authorities.

Panambur police established four special investigation teams to pursue the individuals involved in the incident based on the victim's statement and rapidly expanded the operation. Investigation teams tried to determine the escape routes of the suspects by examining CCTV records at all highway checkpoints between Mangalur and the Kerala border one by one. As a result of the technical tracking and intelligence work, the possibility that the suspects might be linked to a regional crime organization was considered due to their use of vehicles with Kerala license plates. Police teams managed to catch three of the perpetrators of the incident by conducting simultaneous raids on the regions where the suspects resided and increased security measures in the region.

As the investigation deepened, new information was reached regarding the suspects' criminal records and their methods of organizing this robbery, and it was learned that efforts to capture other suspects were continuing. While communication and information sharing between Karnataka and Kerala police departments increased due to this incident, security risks for merchants engaged in the gold trade in the region came to the fore again. Police officials emphasized that the incident was orchestrated in a planned manner and the suspects tracked the victim, in light of the evidence obtained, and that operations would continue uninterruptedly to capture other suspects. This incident once again demonstrated the necessity of effective cooperation against organized crime groups in inter-state border regions.
