Number of Ships Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz Drops to Lowest Level in Five Weeks

Shipping data showed that the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday fell to its lowest level in the last five weeks. This decline occurred due to escalating tensions between the USA and Iran and the continuation of attacks on ships in the Middle East. The situation raised concerns about the security of this maritime route, which is of vital importance for global energy trade.

According to data from the ship tracking company Kpler, only six ships passed through the strait on Sunday. Among the ships that made the transit were the giant oil tanker named 'Humanity' with a capacity of two million barrels loaded with Iranian crude oil, and the 'Kaptan Andreas' carrying approximately 500 thousand barrels of Kuwaiti petroleum products. Additionally, three empty tankers that entered the Gulf to load oil were among the ships passing through the strait.

In contrast, US President Donald Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial maritime traffic. The US Central Command also announced that a new wave of attacks was completed by striking multiple targets against Iran. Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards stated that two ships were stopped by disabling their systems in the Strait of Hormuz during the night hours.
