Forest fire in Spain: 12 dead, 8 missing and 6 thousand 600 hectares of area reduced to ashes

The genetic profiles of the 12 people who lost their lives in the forest fire that broke out in the Los Gallardos area of Almería, Spain, have been extracted. However, the identities of none of the victims have been determined so far, as the victims' families had to come to Spain from other countries to compare the samples. Security forces announced that the number of people reported missing in the area has risen to eight.

Significant progress has been made in the fight against the fire, and the blaze was prevented from exceeding the 6 thousand 600 hectare boundary. Thanks to the intense intervention of the firefighting teams, a large part of the fire lines has been stabilized. Following this positive development, more than 600 people evacuated from the Los Castaños, Almocaízar, Alfaix, and Los Gallardos camping areas were allowed to return to their homes safely.

In the initial hours, approximately 1 thousand 400 people were evacuated, and the remaining individuals are being accommodated in secondary residences or hotels; the Spanish central government will cover all the expenses of this accommodation. It was determined that the vast majority of the 250 houses inspected by the Civil Guard unit in the area were not damaged.
