Şersuvar K., severely injured in an armed clash in Mardin: 'This is not a fight, it is planned savagery'

In the armed clash that broke out between two families in Mardin's Kuşçu Mahallesi on 15 Haziran, 5 people were injured. In the security camera footage of the moment of the incident, the parties were seen opening fire on each other and a person on the ground being beaten for a long time. While the injured were taken to the hospital, 9 suspects were arrested within the scope of the investigation, 2 people were released under judicial control, and 1 person was placed under house arrest.

Şersuvar K., who was severely injured in the incident, stated in his statement at the hospital that the parties were relatives. Koyun claimed that there was no prior enmity between the families, but the opposite party attempted to harvest their wheat fields. Koyun, who explained that they went to the gendarmerie with his father and filed a complaint, and that they were stopped by a prosecutor's decision, said that on the day of the incident, they set off to go to the prosecutor's office with his father.

Koyun stated that they were cornered on the road by the vehicles of the opposite party, fired upon, and tried to roll into a ditch. Claiming that the first shot came from the opposite side, Koyun recounted that his father was hit by a car and he was beaten with sticks. He stated that during the incident, the people on the opposite side hit him with a pistol butt, sprayed pepper spray, and shot him in the legs.

Şersuvar K., claiming that the incident was planned, said that the opposite party called their relatives from Diyarbakır and that the Tepebağ muhtar was also involved. 'This is not any fight, all of it is planned. I want justice to be served,' said Koyun, calling out to the Adalet Bakanı and demanding that the investigation be followed up.

While the investigation into the incident continues, the legal process is ongoing in line with security camera footage and witness statements. The treatment of the injured continues at the hospital. Following the incident, tension was experienced in the region, and gendarmerie teams increased security measures.
