Drug Operations in Muğla in June: 34 Detentions

Teams from the Narcotic Crimes Branch Department, affiliated with the Muğla Provincial Police Department, carried out extensive and determined work throughout June targeting drug dealers across the province. Within the scope of these operations conducted by security units to ensure the peace and security of citizens, simultaneous raids were conducted on numerous addresses, and detailed physical and technical surveillance was carried out against suspects identified as trafficking drugs. Operations targeting identified individuals as a result of intelligence work were maintained without distinction between street dealers and wholesalers, with the aim of eradicating drug use at its source. Legal action was initiated against 324 suspects within the scope of the investigations, and they were brought to the police headquarters for questioning.

In the operations carried out, a significant amount of drugs prepared for release to the market or for use were seized and rendered ineffective. During searches conducted by security forces, a total of 6 thousand 744 grams of skunk-type drugs, 4 thousand 642 grams of marijuana, 570 grams of cocaine, and 175 grams of methamphetamine were found. Additionally, 71 grams of bonzai and 3 grams of heroin, which have become widespread particularly among young people in recent periods and whose danger increases every day, were seized thanks to the meticulous work of the teams. During the operations, 4 thousand 434 pills of the type referred to as synthetic pharmaceuticals and 2 captagon pills known for their stimulating effects were also caught red-handed and handed over to security units.

In the searches conducted by the teams, not only substances but also tools and equipment used in the trade of these substances were seized. 18 precision scales, evaluated as being used in drug trade and substance weighing operations, were seized as evidence and recorded with evidentiary value. Additionally, 40 cannabis roots, including the roots of cannabis-type substances obtained from cultivated plants, were among other important evidence seized in the operations. The seizure of these items presents important evidence indicating that the suspects not only used drugs but also engaged in their sale and trade and carried this out in an organized manner.

The judicial process has begun for the 324 suspects detained and questioned within the scope of the operations, and they have been referred to the judicial authorities. With the exception of 10 individuals who were released subject to judicial control measures by the prosecutor's office and the court, evaluating the criminal element, personal status, and statements of the suspects, the others were referred to the duty court with a request for arrest. As a result of the trial at the court, 34 suspects, for whom it was concluded by judges and prosecutors that there was sufficient evidence of guilt and suspicion of flight, were arrested and sent to prison. Factors such as the existence of finalized prison sentences for drug trafficking and use, or a high risk of committing new crimes, were influential in the detention decisions for the arrested persons.

These operations carried out in Muğla in June once again demonstrated how determined and effective the drug fight strategy is across the province. As a result of the uninterrupted work maintained by narcotics police for 30 days, thousands of grams of drugs were cleared from the streets, and dozens of suspects mediating the trade of these substances were caught. Security officials state that the fight against the drug swamp, which disturbs the peace of citizens and poisons the youth, will continue with determination. It is stated that such operations will continue routinely and at regular intervals, intelligence teams are closely monitoring the activity in the market to make necessary preparations for new operations, and no leeway will be given to drug dealers.
