Major Drug Operation in Ordu: 11 Suspects Arrested

A comprehensive operation was conducted by the Narcotics Crime Combating Department teams of the Provincial Police Department, coordinated by the Ordu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The simultaneous operation, carried out in the Altınordu district, was launched as a result of long-term efforts targeting street dealers. Numerous suspects were detained during the operation and brought to the police department to be referred to judicial authorities. Authorities emphasized that such operations will continue decisively to prevent illegal substance trafficking. Significant quantities of drugs and weapons were seized as a result of the intelligence-supported work of the security forces.

Findings obtained during the operation included 342,5 grams of bonzai raw material and 34,12 grams of processed bonzai. Additionally, it was reported that 45 synthetic pills were seized, along with 2,97 grams of methamphetamine and 1,50 grams of marijuana. The confiscated items included not only narcotics but also firearms and ammunition. 1 unlicensed pistol, 2 smoothbore hunting rifles, and 74 rounds of 9x19 millimeter caliber ammunition revealed the scale of the operation. This situation indicates that the suspects were not only involved in drug trafficking but were also part of an armed organization.

A total of 15 suspects, detained on charges of illegal substance trafficking, were referred to judicial authorities for interrogation. 11 of the suspects were arrested and sent to prison by the court where they were tried. Of the remaining 4 suspects, 2 were released after their statements, while the other 2 were released on judicial control conditions. It is assessed that the arrested suspects were at the center of street dealing activities. It was noted that the legal process is ongoing, and the prosecutor's office is investigating the matter in all its dimensions.

Synthetic drugs such as bonzai and methamphetamine have become a serious public health problem across Turkey in recent years. These substances are spreading rapidly, especially among the young population, due to their low costs and easy accessibility. Law enforcement is waging an intensive struggle by establishing special teams to dismantle the production and distribution networks of synthetic drugs. This operation carried out in Ordu is considered not just a local success, but a part of the national strategy. Experts state that the suppression of street dealers will create a disruption, even if temporary, in the drug market.

Authorities emphasized that the fight against drugs will continue continuously and decisively in Ordu and generally throughout Turkey. The Police Department requested the public to be vigilant against such crimes and to report suspicious situations to law enforcement. These operations are only a part of comprehensive measures designed to protect youth and society from the scourge of drugs. Consequently, the fight against illegal weapons and drugs is of critical importance for ensuring peace and security in the region. Authorities stated that similar operations will be frequently repeated in the future and no one will be able to escape the law.
