Criticism of Pension Raise from Saadet Party: Increase Eroded Before It Reached Our Pockets

Saadet Party Amasya Provincial Chair Nuri Elbir made important evaluations regarding the pension increases that became clear with the June inflation data. Elbir argued that official figures remain far from reflecting the cost increases citizens face in their real lives and that economic indicators are insufficient to alleviate the hardship of making a living. Stating that the situation is also dire specifically in Amasya, the Provincial Chairman expressed that the cost of living in the city is worsening day by day and the purchasing power of citizens is constantly declining. He noted that the increases to salaries were eroded by inflationary pressure before reaching their pockets.

Emphasizing the economic crisis experienced by retirees and low-income earners, Nuri Elbir said that the raises lose their effect in a short time and the burden on the shoulders of fixed-income segments increases every day. He stated that citizens face new price hikes before they even have a chance to calculate their salary increases, a situation that makes the struggle for a living difficult and leads to social demoralization. He expressed that people's hopes for the future are diminishing and economic uncertainty has completely taken over daily life.

In his speech, touching upon Amasya's local economy as well, Chairman Elbir emphasized that despite the city's agricultural and production potential, it is affected by the general economic stagnation. He explained that farmers struggle to produce due to rising input costs, and these cost increases negatively affect consumers by reflecting directly on market prices. He argued that troubles are experienced not just in one link of the economic chain, but in the entire process extending from production to consumption, and that these reduce the general welfare of society.

Stating that problems cannot be solved merely with temporary solutions or salary increases, but instead require structural and permanent solutions, Elbir called for the implementation of policies encouraging production. He added that radical changes are essential to ensure income justice, permanently lower inflation, and establish economic confidence. He expressed that society's expectation is not for day-saving measures, but for a strong and just economic order where they can look to the future with confidence.

Finally, addressing party policies and reiterating that they advocate for a justice-centered economic approach, Nuri Elbir emphasized that a system where citizens receive the return for their labor is possible. He stated that as the Saadet Party, they will continue to struggle for a Turkey where retirees can live humanely, producers earn, and low-income earners can breathe. He noted that economic crises can be overcome with political will and correct policies, pointing to the importance of social solidarity in this regard.
