Sağlık-Sen Strongly Condemns Attack on Sütlüce ASM

Eskişehir Sağlık-Sen Şube Başkanı Hüseyin Köksal made a press statement regarding the attack carried out against the Sütlüce Aile Sağlığı Merkezi’ne (ASM) in the city, condemning the incident in strong terms. In the statement, it was emphasized that any act of violence against healthcare workers is never acceptable and finds no place in the conscience of society, and authorities were called upon to take necessary measures to end such incidents. Köksal stressed that healthcare workers perform their duties with dedication to protect public health despite grueling working conditions that last for days, but facing violence in return causes deep sorrow.

Noting that protecting public health is not only the responsibility of healthcare workers but also of all citizens, Köksal stated that increasing social awareness on the issue is essential. He argued that for the sustainability of health services, the rights of workers must be protected, and public institutions such as hospitals and health centers must be safeguarded as public property. He expressed that damage inflicted on these establishments, built with public resources and serving the people, actually implies an attack on the future and common services of the entire society.

Hüseyin Köksal conveyed that damaging public property causes financial loss on one hand and leads to disruptions in health services on the other, causing citizens to suffer. He noted that the respect and attention shown to healthcare workers form the foundation of a safer, stronger, and sustainable health system, and that this mutual trust is one of the most important dynamics of the system's operation. He stated that such heinous attacks affect not only the worker present at that moment but the healthcare community in general, lowering morale and potentially reducing service quality indirectly.

Finally, calling on all citizens to support healthcare workers, refrain from damaging health institutions, and protect social values, Köksal drew attention to the importance of conscious and responsible behavior. He added that social solidarity is the greatest power in these difficult times, and that violence is not a solution but a harbinger of greater problems. He expressed that if common values are not defended, it will become difficult to maintain a healthy social structure and public services will be disrupted.

In the final part of the written statement, the attack on the Sütlüce Aile Sağlığı Merkezi’ne was once again strongly condemned, and a message was given that they stand with all their colleagues in the face of this unacceptable incident. Köksal recorded that, as a union, they will follow every legal and administrative process regarding the protection of healthcare workers' rights and will not let the matter go, respectfully announcing this to the public.
