Death Toll Rises to 6 in Café Attack in Damascus

It was announced that the death toll reached 6 in a tragic bomb attack that took place in the capital of Syria, Damascus. In the initial official statements regarding the incident, it was stated that the attack was carried out using a handmade explosive prepared with simple methods. Damascus Governor Mahir Mervan İdlibi emphasized in his statement that the dark forces behind such actions aim to undermine the stability sought to be established in the region and deliberately shake the security environment. The Governor stated that efforts would continue with determination to find the perpetrators of the attack in question and that they would follow up on the matter.

According to the latest information obtained from the Syria Ministry of Health Ambulance and Emergency Management, the number of individuals injured in the explosion was recorded to have risen to 22. It was learned that the explosion occurred in a café located on El-Nasr Street, one of the capital's important avenues, near the Palace of Justice. Health teams dispatched urgently to the scene worked intensely to stabilize the condition of the injured and transport them to hospitals. It was stated that the condition of some of the injured remained critical and they were under treatment in hospitals.

Damascus Governor Mahir Mervan İdlibi, making a detailed assessment regarding the issue, said that all connections and new clues behind the attack would be brought to light. Stating that the investigations to be carried out in the future would be expanded and not a single detail would be overlooked, the Governor promised that the perpetrators would be brought to justice. İdlibi added that every element playing with the blood of Syrians and trying to create an environment of chaos in the country's territory would receive the punishment they deserved in the severest manner.

It was reported that following the incident, security measures were raised to the maximum level across the capital and all relevant units were put on alert. The Governor of Damascus stated that work to reinforce the city's overall security situation, preserve the public's peace, and raise the level of stability to the highest point continues uninterruptedly on a daily basis. Authorities decided to review security measures taken at strategic points to prevent the recurrence of similar attacks.

This attack aims to demoralize the public at a time when Syria is trying to enter a normalization process following the long-running civil war process.
