Motorcycle and light commercial vehicle collide in Samsun's Bafra district: 2 injured

A serious traffic accident occurred in Samsun’s Bafra district, at an intersection where Turistlik Sokak meets Millet Caddesi in Fatih Mahallesi. Following the collision between a light commercial vehicle with license plate 55 AFC 40, driven by Y.Y., and a motorcycle with license plate 55 AVN 070, driven by S.K., a large crowd quickly gathered to assist. Due to the severity of the impact, both vehicles sustained damage, causing momentary panic among drivers and bringing traffic to a standstill. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched, while rising smoke and scattered debris on the ground illustrated the intensity of the crash.

As a result of the accident, 17-year-old motorcycle driver S.K. and his cousin, 28-year-old passenger E.K., sustained injuries to various parts of their bodies. Thanks to the awareness of local residents, medical teams arrived swiftly and provided emergency intervention at the scene to stabilize the victims. After initial treatment, the injured were transported by ambulances to Bafra Devlet Hastanesi for detailed examinations to determine if there were any life-threatening risks. Hospital officials did not issue an official statement on the current health status of the injured, but it was shared that they were kept under observation.

Police arriving at the scene initiated a comprehensive investigation by securing the area to determine the exact cause and liability of the accident. It is being considered that the tragic accident at the intersection may have resulted from a driver failing to yield right of way or driving recklessly. While statements are being taken from the suspect drivers, traces found at the scene and the damaged parts of the vehicles are being examined in detail and reported. Police restored controlled traffic flow in the area to prevent any further incidents.

The motorcycle, thrown onto the road by the impact, and the jammed light commercial vehicle required tow trucks to be removed.
