Chain accident on TEM Otoyolu Bolu pass: Truck, automobile and bus mix

The chain traffic accident that occurred in the Bolu pass was recorded as an event that temporarily disrupted transportation in the region. The chain of events began with a truck traveling in the direction of Ankara hitting the vehicle in front hard, and continued as the car lost control and swerved onto the road. At this moment, the bus coming from behind hit the swerving car, completing the accident involving three vehicles. The scene of the accident, TEM Otoyolu Yukarısoku Mahallesi vicinity, was secured thanks to the timely intervention of the gendarmerie and Highways teams. The security measures taken by the teams at the scene were of great importance in preventing a possible second accident and keeping drivers away from the dangerous area.

Initial examinations regarding whether there were passengers in the vehicles involved in the accident and the health status of the drivers gained momentum with the situation being reported to the 112 Acil Çağrı Merkezi. The highway gendarmerie and highway teams dispatched to the scene started work both to investigate the causes of the accident and to reopen traffic. In particular, the phase of removing the wreckage of the remaining vehicles required traffic to be directed to alternative routes in a controlled manner for security purposes. The sight of the three vehicles intertwined with the bus's collision caused temporary vehicle queues on the highway, but the problem was resolved with the professional work of the teams. In particular, such chain accidents can emerge as a combination of factors such as sudden braking, failure to maintain following distance, and speed. The fact that the accident did not result in tragic consequences such as loss of life or injury by chance was highlighted as the most comforting aspect of the event.

On winding and descending-ascending roads like the Bolu pass, it was once again understood how critical the braking systems of heavy vehicles and the reflexes of drivers are. The truck hitting the car in front was a starting point that could create an unstoppable danger for the traffic behind. The bus driver coming from behind trying to notice the situation and brake was not enough to prevent the accident from growing, and as a result, three vehicles were damaged. Traffic police and Highways teams acted in a coordinated manner to clear the accident scene and eliminate dangerous parts on the road following their investigation at the scene.

Following the examination by the traffic police, temporary measures were taken not to close the highway to traffic completely but to clean the lane where the accident occurred. After the vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the road, statements were taken from the drivers who crashed and legal proceedings were initiated. Within the scope of the highway gendarmerie's investigation into the incident, the technical details of the accident and the determined faults will be reported. Cleaning work on the road was completed so that drivers could travel safely again, and vehicle traffic on TEM Otoyolu returned to normal. Although the shock effect of the incident was overcome in a short time thanks to the absence of injuries, drivers in the region were reminded to be more careful on their next journey.
