Tesla increases Supercharger fees in Turkey by 5 percent

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has decided to update its charging pricing policy in the Turkish market once again. The company, re-determining the price tariff valid at Supercharger stations in the country, made a cost increase covering all users. With this latest regulation, a noticeable rise has started to be seen in invoice amounts for Tesla owners and customers using electric vehicles of other brands.

Under the newly applied tariff, Tesla vehicle owners faced an increase of approximately 5.05 percent in the amounts they have to pay per charge. This situation indicates that costs have increased slightly for those within the Tesla ecosystem and that the economic dimension of the routine use of charging stations has changed. This rate of increase applied by the company to its own users was calculated based on fluctuations in exchange rates and the general course of energy costs.

On the other hand, Tesla signed a higher rate in the prices applied to drivers of other electric vehicle brands for which it keeps its Supercharger network open. The price increase made for this group turned out to be 5.69 percent, realizing slightly above the increase made for Tesla owners. The addition of this increase while charging vehicles of different brands reveals that Tesla continues to maintain its advantageous pricing strategy offered to its own customers and that the costs for external users are shaped a little differently.

Evaluations on the subject point to the impact of exchange rate fluctuations stemming from Tesla determining Supercharger pricing directly in US dollars. Tesla, which similarly increased prices when the exchange rate rose in the past period, tries to balance its operational costs by reflecting the mobility in exchange rates to its prices immediately. This approach allows global companies to quickly update their product and service prices against the depreciation of local currencies.

Electric vehicle users in Turkey are heavily dependent on the Supercharger network, especially on long trips and for daily charging needs. In this context, the price increases are recorded as a development closely concerning not only Tesla owners but the entire electric vehicle ecosystem.
