Türkiye Strongly Condemns Attack in Şam Causing Loss of Lives

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye issued an official statement regarding the heinous attack that took place today in the Hicaz region of Şam, the capital of Suriye, resulting in loss of lives. In the written statement, the attack was condemned in the strongest terms, while condolences and messages of sympathy were conveyed, asking for mercy from Allah for those who lost their lives and urgent recovery for the wounded. The Ministry stated that such acts of violence are unacceptable and that all forms of terrorism must be condemned, once again sharing the sensitivity of the Turkish government and nation with the public.

In the Ministry's assessment, it was emphasized that the attack is not only a physical damage but also an attempt targeting the atmosphere of stability and security being tried to be established with difficulty in Suriye. It was expressed that such provocations, which aim to hinder the positive developments recorded recently for establishing sustainable peace in the country, will never achieve their goals. It was noted that it is believed that the efforts of such dark forces to disrupt social peace will fail, within the framework of respect for Suriye's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

One of the main messages of the statement was that the strongest and most effective response to this attack is for the Suriye people to maintain their unity and solidarity within themselves. It was stated that against circles trying to create an atmosphere of chaos by pitting different groups or sects against each other, the best defense tool is the nation's rallying together. It was conveyed that Türkiye fully believes in and supports this honorable stance of the Suriye people's will in solidarity against the dynamics that try to overshadow this positive picture for Suriye's future.

It was underlined that Türkiye's solidarity with Suriye will continue to increase during this process, and the importance of cooperation to be sustained in both diplomatic and humanitarian fields was emphasized. It was stated that steps to be taken to contribute to the normalization process and internal peace of the neighboring country will be followed, and contacts with the Şam administration and the people will be maintained against all destabilizing activities. This warning from Ankara was described as a diplomatic step taken for the preservation of regional peace.

Consequently, the ministry implied that it expects the international community to be sensitive for the punishment of those responsible for the attack in Şam and the prevention of similar incidents, emphasizing the fact that Suriye's peace is the region's peace. The statement was presented not only as a condemnation but also as a guarantee of standing by Suriye.
