Gauff wins tough match at Wimbledon, Sinner and Sabalenka advance comfortably

On the third day of the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, American star Coco Gauff experienced one of the most critical moments of her career. The young tennis player managed to win a tough three-set battle against her Argentine opponent Solana Sierra, surviving the threat of a match point. Gauff was particularly known for her habit of early exits at Wimbledon, and a similar scenario was unfolding in this match. However, the seventh seed Gauff, trailing 5-4 in the third set, broke serve to stay in the match and reached victory with a superior performance after 7-7 in the tiebreak. This victory meant not just advancing a round for her, but also overcoming her fears at Wimbledon.

In the men's draw, defending champion Jannik Sinner secured a very comfortable victory against Portuguese Nuno Borges. The Italian tennis player, who had a five-set battle in the first round, this time displayed a more controlled game, winning the match with sets of 7-6(4), 7-6(2), 6-4. Sinner, in particular, raised his game at critical moments and although he gave his opponent set point chances, he did not allow him to capitalize on them. With this victory, Sinner advanced to the third round while sustaining his contention for the championship. Among the spectators watching the match were the European Ryder Cup winners located in the Royal Box.

Women's top seed Aryna Sabalenka also faced tough moments against American McCartney Kessler. The Belarusian tennis player, who took the first set with a clear score of 6-1, fell behind 5-2 in the second set. However, four-time Grand Slam champion Sabalenka raised the level of her game here and won the set in a tiebreak 9-7, completing the match 6-1, 7-6(9). In her post-match statement, Sabalenka noted that her opponent played incredibly and was very aggressive, stating that she struggled in the second set but was happy to win by staying strong. Sabalenka will face Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, known for her powerful strikes, in the third round.

Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka also advanced past Russian qualifier Anastasia Gasanova in the second round match with sets of 6-3, 6-2. Unlike the 'Kill Bill' themed kimono she wore in the first round, Osaka took to the court in a more plain outfit, but her tennis was once again dazzling. Other women's seed Czech Karolina Muchova advanced to the third round by defeating Chinese Zhang Shuai. 16th seed American young player Iva Jovic defeated 38-year-old veteran Tatjana Maria with a clear score of 6-1, 6-2. Jovic managed to solve Maria's unusual slicing game.

In the men's draw, eighth seed Daniil Medvedev secured a four-set victory against Spanish Daniel Merida. French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli defeated Mariano Navone, while Brazilian Joao Fonseca got past Dutch Jesper de Jong. American qualifier Michael Zheng drew attention by defeating British number one Cameron Norrie in the first round and then beating Colombian Nicolas Mejia in straight sets in the second round. American Tommy Paul also joined Zheng in the third round; Paul took his second consecutive straight-sets victory against Kwon Soon-woo.
