Yunanistan 2026 University Minimum Entry Scores Announced: Competition Heats Up

The Yunanistan Ministry of National Education has activated the electronic preference platform for students who have completed the 2026 national university entrance exams. Candidates can log into the system using their personal security codes to select their preferred higher education institutions. The preference declaration process will continue until 23:59 on Thursday, 16 Temmuz. The critical nature of this process is explained by the fact that candidates are choosing university programs that will directly shape their careers. The system also allows for parallel preference changes, providing an opportunity to apply for vocational schools as well.

One of the most crucial data points announced by the ministry was the determination of the Minimum University Entry Base Scores (EVE) for General and Vocational High Schools. Detailed tables have been shared in the relevant regulations section of the ministry's official website, making them accessible to candidates. The minimum base score represents the lowest threshold a candidate must exceed to qualify for placement in any university program. Only candidates who surpass this threshold get the opportunity to compete with other candidates for placement in these programs. These minimum base scores are not determined according to a single standard for all programs. On the contrary, the score for each program is calculated based on the general average of the exam results of candidates in that scientific field and a coefficient determined by the respective university. The minimum base score in this field rose to 13,09, registering an increase of 0,81 points (approximately 6,6 percent) compared to the previous year. The main reason for this sharp rise is the high exam achievement obtained, particularly in Mathematics and Physics. The increase in the students' general grade point average automatically pulled the base score up, further intensifying the competition.

In other scientific fields, much smaller and mostly downward-trending changes were observed in the base scores. The base score for the 1. Alan, which includes Human and Legal Sciences, was announced as 11,20, while the 3. Alan, covering Health Sciences, remained at 12,32 points. The base score for the 4. alan, which includes Economics and Informatics, was set at 10,33, registering a slight decline compared to the previous year. The fluctuations in these fields directly affect university entry barriers. Students should carefully evaluate these lower limits and their own achievement levels to create strategic preference lists before their final placement scores are announced.
