بالأرقام
US Northern Command (NORTHCOM) announced that it has destroyed more than 300 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) sent by drug cartels and criminal organizations at the Mexico border since the beginning of this year. 100 of these UAVs were shot down in August alone.
Cartels use drones for drug smuggling, tracking security forces, and detecting unmanned checkpoints for migrant smuggling. Mexican Defense Minister Ricardo Trevilla stated that smugglers also use drones to track migrants.
In border regions, particularly in Tijuana, cartels have previously been recorded carrying out attacks with explosive drones on government buildings and rival cartel territories. Security and military units of both countries continue to strengthen air and electronic surveillance against the growing drone threat.
