Mergers and Acquisitions in China Increase by 56%

PwC, one of the world's largest consulting firms, announced that mergers and acquisitions in China increased by 56% in the first half of 2026. A total of 7,316 transactions took place, setting a record number. Financial investors played a significant role in this increase, with the number of related transactions increasing by 49% to 5,675.

The increase in mergers and acquisitions in China was driven by the revitalization of capital markets and government support. Large-scale industrial mergers were seen as a major factor in the increase in mergers and acquisitions. According to PwC's report, the number and amount of private equity transactions also increased significantly. However, the number of strategic investors' transactions decreased by 7%, but the transaction amount increased by 38%.
