Diyarbakır Büyükşehir Belediye Eş Başkanı Doğan Hatun Resigned From His Duty

Diyarbakır Büyükşehir Belediye Eş Başkanı Doğan Hatun announced that he resigned from his duty within the scope of the "Geri Çekilme İlkesi" (Pullback Principle) adopted at his party's Local Governments Conference. Hatun stated that they came to office with the great support of the public in the 31 Mart 2024 Mahalli İdareler Seçimleri, but noted that more participation and struggle were needed for the success of the Barış ve Demokratik Toplum Süreci in the new period.

Stating that the desired level of productivity could not be achieved during his term, partly due to the health problems he experienced, Hatun expressed that he had undergone angiography three times during his duty of more than two years and that he had suffered physically. Hatun, who concluded that he could not contribute sufficiently to the process in the new period, shared that his request to withdraw, which he submitted to the party councils, was accepted.

In his statement, Doğan Hatun emphasized that his party's areas of struggle are not limited to positions and announced that he will continue his struggle in different fields. Furthermore, he evaluated that the Barış ve Demokratik Toplum Çağrısı made in the region has opened a new door for hope and peace, and that it has helped to dissipate the anti-democratic atmosphere in Turkey.
