Rule Change in Japan's 'Double Impact' Comedy Competition: Performance Permit Exclusive to the Top 5 Only

The comedy championship titled 'Çifte Etki 2026' (Double Impact), which will be broadcast on Japan's famous television channels on 20 Temmuz, is undergoing a remarkable rule change this year. In this organization, which combines both 'manzai' (stand-up double comedy) and 'conte' (sketch) performances, the right to stage both prepared shows will only be granted to the top 5 groups that make it to the finals.

The new 'extreme' rule means that a large portion of the teams participating in the competition will only be able to perform a single type of performance. The production team explained the internal struggle they experienced and the responsibility brought by the organization regarding this tough decision made to keep the audience in front of the screen for 3 hours.
