Earthquake Damage in Colombia Estimated at $9.6 Billion

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia on August 10, resulting in the deaths of 289 people and injuring 4,187. Additionally, 143 people are missing, nearly 27,000 homes were destroyed, and many are sleeping on the streets or in public parks.

Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella announced that the economic loss from the earthquake is $9.57 billion. The earthquake is recorded as the strongest tremor in Colombia in almost half a century.
