Pakistan requests 10 billion dollar support from the US to alleviate economic pressures

Pakistan has requested a 10 billion dollar foreign exchange stabilization facility from the United States of America in order to strengthen its foreign exchange reserves and alleviate economic pressures. Planned to last for up to five years between Islamabad and Washington, this bilateral support agreement aims to reduce Pakistan's dependence on external financing sources.

The request came at a time when Pakistan continues its economic reforms, which include strict fiscal and monetary measures, under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program. Additionally, the country's initiatives regarding the Iran conflict to increase its international visibility were a supporting factor for this step. These diplomatic efforts gave rise to expectations that cooperation with global partners, including the US, would expand.

While these developments were taking place, Pakistan's Minister of Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their determination to deepen bilateral economic cooperation and advance strategic projects.
