Earthquake of 7.2 Magnitude in Peru

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Ayacucho region of Peru. The earthquake was recorded by the Instituto Geofísico de Perú and was felt at a level of III-IV in the city of Coracora.

Following the earthquake, some damage and rockfalls were reported in the region, but no official statement has been made yet. Peru is located in an area known as the Pacific Ring of Fire, where about 80% of the world's seismic activity occurs.

In recent years, several major earthquakes have occurred in Peru. In 2007, a 7.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Ica region, resulting in the loss of more than 500 lives.
