Multiple injured in collision involving two BMTC buses in Bengaluru

A serious traffic accident in the city of Bengaluru during heavy morning traffic caused disruptions in city transportation and alarmed citizens. On the morning of Saturday, July 4, two BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses collided near KR Circle, one of the busiest junctions in the capital of Karnataka state. The impact of the accident was so severe that a large number of passengers trapped inside the buses had to wait for intervention from rescue teams. The dispatch of emergency teams to the scene and the process of transporting the injured to the hospital further increased the traffic density in the area and put security forces on alert.

Initial investigations into the incident and statements from witnesses indicate that the accident occurred during morning work hours and at a time when a stop was required at traffic lights. A normal service bus, reported to be traveling at high speed from behind, rear-ended a stationary BMTC Vayu Vajra bus with a hard impact. The severity of the collision, which caused the front of the rear bus to be completely crushed and the chassis structure to be heavily damaged, led to the injury of many people. It was reported that the condition of the passengers, especially those in the front, was critical and rescue efforts were continuing with difficulty.

One of the most painful aspects of the accident was that the driver and a female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries. The leg of the female passenger, who was trapped in the front section crushed by the force of the collision, was stuck between the metals of the bus, putting rescuers in a difficult situation. Rescue teams made great efforts to cut through the mangled metal structure with special equipment to safely extract the injured from the environment. The injured driver and this passenger were transferred to nearby hospitals and taken under treatment after initial intervention at the scene.

The accident brought traffic around KR Circle to a complete standstill, causing a major disruption in the transportation network in the area. Bengaluru Traffic Police reported that vehicles formed long queues along the route where the accident occurred and the damaged buses blocked the road. Security forces initiated a large-scale cleaning and diversion operation by arriving at the scene to restore traffic flow and prevent long queues.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, while continuing to investigate possible negligence and mechanical failures. Although the driver of the speeding bus failing to brake or negligence is suspected as the primary cause of the accident, whether there was a mechanical malfunction in the buses is also being investigated with technical reports. While security units continue their preparations to initiate necessary legal proceedings based on the results of the investigation, Bengaluru Traffic Police asked citizens to avoid the KR Circle area and use alternative routes.
